Why gel polish peels off
It is difficult to imagine modern life without gel polish. However, not all masters manage to perform high-quality manicure with such a coating. Therefore, today we will talk about the mistakes that lead to peeling of the gel polish.
Remains of old material
The first mistake that leads to the fact that the gel polish does not hold is the remnants of the old material on the ends and the free edge of the nail. There are many opinions about whether or not to remove the material to the end, however, I am in favor of leaving a small thickness of the base on the bed so as not to injure the nail and not to thin it. But at the ends, it is desirable to remove the material completely, since here an outdated base can cause delamination.
Also, after removing the coating, you should carefully examine the nail from all angles, and make sure that nothing superfluous is left on it, so that in the future there will be a high-quality coupling with the new material.
Poor pterygium and cuticle handling
The next mistake that causes gel polish detachment is a poorly cleaned pterygium and a poorly processed cuticle. All masters know that pterygium often gives detachment, but they still make this mistake, do not inspect, do not clean, etc.
The remains of the remover with a combi manicure under the cuticle
With a combi manicure, many masters use a remover, which they safely forget about before applying gel polish. However, this is a serious mistake that will affect the durability of the coating.
An alkaline solution, as well as glycolic (hydroxyacetic) acid, which are part of the remover, can give a strong detachment of not only gel polish, gel, but even ordinary nail polish.
Therefore, if you use a cuticle remover, before applying gel polish, once again carefully go through the manicure scraper (pusher) at the base of the nail, and make sure that no residue of this product is hiding there. Use a tissue soaked in a nail degreaser to treat the area under the cuticle.
Lack of base on the sidelines
The next mistake in which gel polish can peel off is when the base is not applied to the side lines of the nail. This is rare on oval and almond-shaped nails, but things are completely different with a square.
Masters apply the base in the center, apply from the sinuses, but do not turn the finger to the side in order to control. When we turn the finger on its side, very often it is in the side lines from the point of growth to the end that the base lies indented, and the masters do not even see this.
Therefore, after applying the base, we must first check one side of the nail, pulling the rollers well, and then the other. If suddenly, even after drying, you see that there is still no material on some side line, do not be shy and fill in the gaps with a thin brush.
Leaks in the cuticle
Another mistake due to which gel polish can peel off is streaks in the cuticle and paraungual sinuses. This is very common if the nail is long and the thickness of the material is decent enough.
Masters try to push the base right under the cuticle, they say this is an indicator of professionalism, but this is not entirely correct, because there should be a small gap, at least half a millimeter.
Do not try to jump out of your skin and minimize the distance between the coating and the skin. Let it be better to have a small gap and a durable coating for several weeks than perfectly painted nails under the cuticle, from which the gel will slide off in a couple of days.
Manicure with gel polish has already become quite commonplace in our daily life. However, some masters manage to learn all the subtleties of this coating, and after a week, customers who are dissatisfied with the peeling off of varnish come to someone. I hope my article will help you to be among the first. Be healthy and beautiful! :)
