Why do eyelash extensions fall out?
Eyelash extensions do not go out of fashion, because it is an easy way to add expressiveness to the look. Unfortunately, while wearing eyelashes, there are also negative phenomena. Let's talk today about the reasons for the loss of eyelash extensions.
Eyelash extensions are an "addictive" procedures, and it will soon be hard to imagine how you ever lived without this. However, not everything is as simple as it seems at first glance. Eyelash extensions require some maintenance between treatments, and if you don't take proper care of it, this won't last long. Today I would like to tell you the main reasons why eyelash extensions fall off, and whether it is possible to somehow influence this process.
Natural eyelash renewal
At times, our lashes naturally fall out and are replaced by new "newborn" lashes that begin to grow and fill the space where the lashes have already fallen out. It takes some time to reach its optimal length, and unfortunately, more often than not, it looks like there are no lashes at all.
You will lose one or more of your natural lashes every day. This process is completely normal, natural, and irreversible, so you just have to accept it! :) Since artificial eyelashes are attached directly to your natural eyelashes during extension, it will fall out together. :( If you notice that your eyelashes fall out excessively, you should pay attention to special products that will help prevent this process, for example eyelash strengthening serum. Serum strengthens individual cilia and prolongs its life cycle.
Using mascara or waterproof makeup
I have such a category of clients who, even after a Hollywood extension, want to make their eyes look even brighter (although much brighter :)), and apply three more layers of mascara on top. If you really love and cannot refuse mascara, paint over only half the length, and preferably only the tips of the extended eyelashes. And try not to use waterproof makeup. This mascara is very difficult to remove without rubbing your eyes or damaging your lash extensions. And special products designed to remove waterproof makeup will only contribute to a significant loss of eyelashes, violating their adhesive properties due to the oily composition.
Using oil-based cosmetics
As I mentioned in the previous point, using oil-based products is a nightmare for lash extensions. :) As with oily skin, using oil-based products can break the bond between your natural and extended lashes and cause it to fall out.
Oily skin
Having oily skin can be a negative factor for wearing eyelash extensions. It would seem, what is the connection between these at all? But, unfortunately, very oily skin can affect the breakdown of glue, with which eyelash extensions are attached. In rare cases, the adhesive may not work at all! If you have very oily skin, I recommend starting with a few eyelash extensions per eye to see if it lasts before spending money and time on a full extension. There is nothing more disappointing than seeing your precious lashes fall off after just a few days of wear.
Do you often rub your eyes or pull your eyelashes?
If you suffer from dry eyes and rub it frequently, extensions are more likely to fall off along with your natural lashes. And then new eyelashes will simply have nothing to build up. Control your urge to rub your eyes, or buy special moisturizing eye drops to relieve discomfort.
How do you sleep
The position you sleep in can be a contributing factor to premature loss of lash extensions. Those of us who sleep on our stomachs or face down can count on finding some of our lashes on our pillow in the morning :) . But, modern manufacturers have found a way out of this situation and have come up with a special sleep mask with extended eyelashes, which will help prevent the loss of eyelashes for those who like to rub their face with a pillow. :)
Improper eyelash care
If you took the point about rubbing your eyes too literally and decided not to touch your lashes at all, then you are wrong. :) If you do not remove the dirt, or small particles of makeup that got on the eyelashes, then this can end in failure. This can cause infection or inflammation in the hair follicle.
Therefore, it is important to properly clean your eyelash extensions. It is best to brush your lashes with a clean mascara brush twice a day, morning and evening. When brushing, try to make soft strokes. When you're done, clean the brush the same way.
Taking vitamins and supplements
Some hair, skin, and nail vitamins and supplements can cause natural lashes to recover faster, causing artificial lashes to fall out faster than expected. You should also be aware that thyroid medications can alter the texture of your lashes, making your natural lashes look oilier, drier, or more brittle. If you are taking these medications, your eyelashes may react differently.
You wet the lashes too early
It is recommended not to wet your lashes for at least 24-48 hours after extensions because the glue is still curing. If you wet your lashes too early, the glue may crystallize and cause irritation that will force you to rub your eyes. After the glue is completely dry, you can swim, wash your face and do other things as usual.
Master's error when building
Despite the fact that most craftsmen are experienced in their craft, the possibility of human error is still present. Mistakes can include: using too little or too much adhesive; insufficiently careful preparation of eyelashes before extension.
I hope my information was useful for you, and you will no longer encounter negative phenomena while wearing your precious eyelash extensions! Be healthy and beautiful! :)
