Waxing mistakes
Waxing - whether you do it yourself or trust a professional - requires proper preparation and aftercare. Let's talk today about mistakes during waxing and how to avoid it.
Waxing in the salon
The biggest mistake that many girls make is the delusion that everything depends on the master. The successful result of the wax depilation procedure is only 50% dependent on the professionalism of the master, and the remaining 50% is solely your merit! :)
I suggest you pay attention to exactly how to prepare for waxing in the salon, and what you should and should not do before the procedure, or after it.
1. Hair cutting before depilation
A large number of girls feel embarrassed before the wax hair removal procedure, believing that their hairs have grown too much, and try to cut the “vegetation” a little before going to the master. But, unfortunately, most often this ends with the fact that the hair becomes so short that it's not able to capture the wax. For a successful procedure, the hair must be at least 5mm long. And if you are worried about too long hairs, then each master has specialized disinfected scissors for this case, with which she herself will trim everything if necessary. :)
2. Drinking caffeine or alcohol before waxing
Drinking a couple of glasses of wine for courage before waxing sounds like a great idea. :) But in fact, alcohol or other stimulants in the body can cause the skin to be very sensitive to waxing.
3. Inappropriate aftercare
For the next 24 hours after depilation, I do not advise you to:
- Take a hot bath (any extreme changes in temperature can trigger a skin reaction)
- Swim in the pool or sunbathe
- Wear tight, tight clothes (the skin needs to "breathe" after depilation)
- Use perfumed products, including deodorant, self-tanner, or makeup (these products can irritate exposed hair follicles)
- Touching, scratching or scrubbing the depilatory area (this can lead to a bacterial infection)
4. Not Waxing Regularly
If you are waxing for the first time, it may be more painful than later, as the hairs have been under the skin for a long time and nourished. The more time passes between depilation sessions, the stronger the hair becomes. Regular waxing sessions break down the density of the hair, and the hair grows back thinner and lighter.
Waxing at home
Here the situation is even more complicated, because success is 100% dependent on your ability to do everything right. :) Consider the most common mistakes during waxing at home.
1. Depilation in the wrong direction
Always tear off the wax strip in the opposite direction of hair growth. Do it quickly and sharply. The faster the wax strip is removed, the better the depilation will be. Lightly stretch the skin at all times to reduce discomfort.
2. Do not reuse wax strips
The same strip can be used multiple times.
3. Excessively cleansing the skin before the procedure
Oil on your skin creates a natural barrier between wax and skin. If you've just taken a shower or cleansed your skin, apply talcum powder to your skin. The powder will act as a protective film to minimize discomfort.
4. Ignoring scrub
To avoid ingrown hairs, exfoliate and moisturize your skin regularly. Get a good hard washcloth for this, and a quality body oil.
No one is immune from mistakes, but knowing the "enemy" in the face, we increase our chances of beautiful smooth skin without irritation and ingrown hairs. :)
