Wax or laser: what to choose for depilation
The beach season is approaching, and many girls are puzzled by the issue of removing body hair. Today we will talk with you about how wax differs from laser, and what method of depilation to choose.
Hair removal is a major concern and headache for most girls. Shaving, waxing or sugaring, plucking with tweezers, using depilatory creams... Each girl has her own rituals for getting rid of annoying vegetation :) . Two forms of hair removal are considered permanent: laser hair removal and electrolysis. But which is better for your health and beauty? How to make the legs or bikini line flawlessly smooth, without ingrown hairs, irritation and burns? Let's figure it out! :)
Today, for comparison, I decided to take the two most relevant hair removal options today - wax depilation and laser hair removal. Anticipating your questions, I will immediately tell you how depilation differs from epilation.
During depilation, we remove only the visible part of the hair, and its follicle continues its life cycle, but epilation acts destructively on the hair root. In simple words - depilation gives a temporary effect, and epilation - permanent.
How is the procedure
During waxing, excess hairs are removed by wrapping it in a sticky substance, liquid wax, which then hardens slightly and comes off the skin along with the hairs.
During the procedure of laser hair removal, intense heat is directed into the hair follicles, which destroys the structure of the hairs and makes its further appearance unlikely.
The effect of the procedure
The effect of wax depilation is immediately visible, the hairs are torn out and no longer “procrastinate” your eye! :) After waxing, hair growth usually resumes after about two to three weeks. The hair grows back much thinner and softer.
Laser hair removal leaves the skin smooth for a long period of time and varies from client to client. You will not see an instant effect after one treatment. Although laser hair removal is considered a permanent hair removal method, it will take several sessions before the hairs are completely destroyed. This is not a very suitable option if the vacation is already on the nose and soon you need to be the queen of the beach! :)
Plus, after a couple of years, the complex of sessions will need to be repeated, as some hair regenerates again.
Waxing is much more affordable than laser hair removal. Most salons and masters offer waxing services, even in very small towns.
Laser hair removal should be carried out exclusively in a licensed institution, by qualified specialists. Such objects are usually located in large cities, and, as they say, not at every turn. In this regard, fans of wax depilation benefit greatly.
If you compare how much wax and laser hair removal cost, then the price of wax hair removal is much lower. But this is considering the cost of one session.
If we compare the long term, it turns out that the amount of money spent on monthly wax depilation will be much more than the price of a set of laser hair removal sessions. In this regard, laser hair removal is more profitable, since the effect is longer-term.
But on the other hand, not everyone has the opportunity to immediately lay out a large amount for a laser hair removal procedure, while the price of wax depilation is affordable for almost everyone.
As I said, laser hair removal should only be performed by qualified, experienced professionals, since there is a risk of discoloration and skin burns if the procedure is not performed well, especially for those with dark skin tones.
Laser hair removal on dark skin can be problematic because the laser reads the pigment, and if the contrast is minimal it will be more difficult for the laser to recognize the hair. This can lead to burns or hypopigmentation.
Owners of too light or white hair will face the same problem. The laser just won't "capture" it.
The wax depilation procedure, especially if it is carried out by an inexperienced master, can also lead to negative consequences, such as burns, skin tears, ingrown hairs, skin infection and pain in the depilation area.
My conclusion: Both waxing and laser hair removal do an excellent job of removing unwanted hair. And the choice should be made solely from your specific needs and capabilities. For myself, I prefer wax depilation, because I like to be beautiful "here and now", however, like my clients. And I will be very happy if you want to become one of them! :)
