Pube wigs at New York Fashion Week

Fashion is subjective. And what may be “too much” for you, is quite acceptable style for someone. One such fashion trend that has taken the internet by storm is pubic wigs.

Good news for bush lovers! :) Despite the fact that pubic bushes went out of fashion sometime in the late 1970s, along with sideburns, hairy legs and armpits, the cult of thick intimate hair is definitely returning this year.

Celebrities such as Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga and Amber Rose played no small role in this, who openly declared their preferences not to remove pubic hair, which immediately fueled a wave of interest in this topic in various media. Therefore, it is not surprising that after a while, fans of pubic hair showed themselves in the world of high fashion. :)

The highlight of NYFW 2018 New York Fashion Week was the show by South Korean designer Kaimin, who took her models to the runway as part of her new Oriental Garden collection (what an appropriate name :) ). The original feature of this collection was not clothes at all, but an unusual accessory - a pubic wig, better known as "merkin", which adorned the intimate part of the body of all models.

I feel a certain pride in myself, because I wrote about the originality of pubic wigs in my blog a year ago! It is a pity that I am not a fashionable New York designer, otherwise you would have learned about merkins much earlier. :)

Guests at the Kaimin show were treated to cyber-punk looks in glittery iridescent leather and vinyl, but all the attention was, of course, on the pubic wigs.

The last time the fashion world did something meaningful for intimate hairstyles dates back to 2015, and the advent of wajazzling. So, however you feel about the popularization of pubic wigs, in any case, it's good that we now have more options for decorating the intimate area.

The history of intimate wigs - merkins stretches back to 1450, when women wore this to prevent the appearance of lice, and in connection with other medical and sanitary problems.

But the use of genital wigs in the Kaimin show has nothing to do with health, and the main message of the collection is the theme of pride in our body and sexuality.

“This is a recognition of the individuality of the human genitalia, which people usually talk about with a sense of embarrassment. I based our show on diversity and tolerance. My collection is a continuation of the search for the new and the desire to break boundaries and hierarchies.”

I'm not sure that such sublime materials were the main idea, but the fact that pubic wigs have attracted increased public attention is undeniable!

During the show, the Kaimin brand showcased a wide range of pubic wigs, which are available in a variety of colors, lengths and styles, so everyone can find something to their liking. :)

A whole team of hair stylists worked on the creation of the merkins for the show, led by creative director Dale Delaporte. Together it helped bring the Kaimin concept to reality.

"We really wanted to bring out the futuristic punk aesthetic of this season's collection with not just the Mohawks on the heads but also the matching merkins. We've been hard at work developing the pubic wigs and making this looks as natural as possible. And the results speak for itself!"

Yes, judging by the photos and numerous reviews of the collection, the pubic wig will be the most unusual and discussed accessory of this year!

Kaimin has certainly made a big breakthrough among fashion lovers, and has made a new turn in the history of merkin pubic wigs. However, it is up to you whether to implement this original trend into everyday life or not.

Don't know what to wear today? Opt for a pubic wig and it doesn't matter what else you're wearing! :) This is, of course, a joke, but in every joke, as you know, there is some truth!
