Mistakes of female manicure
Most recently, I wrote about the most common mistakes in men's manicure, and now it's time to find out what stands in the way between us girls and perfect nails. :) Our topic today is female manicure mistakes.
1. Manicure for dirty nails
Don't forget to prepare your hands before the procedure. After all, doing a manicure on dirty nails is not only unpleasant, but also not hygienic. Wash your hands thoroughly, and also take a cotton pad, soak it in nail polish remover and wipe your nails. This is a kind of preparation before applying the coating, as the nail polish remover cleans the nail, removing excess oil and dirt from the nail plate.
2. The wrong way to file your nails
Because the tip is the oldest, most fragile part of your nail, filing back and forth can cause your nail to split, peel, or even break. Try doing it this way: file one outer corner of the nail and file along the tip in one direction, stopping in the middle. Repeat movements in this direction until the desired shape is achieved, then switch to the other side. I described in more detail about how to properly file my nails in one of my recent articles.
3. Cuticle trimming
I've mentioned this countless times already, but repetition is the mother of learning. :) Cuticles are protective barriers that keep bacteria from trying to get into our bodies, so all you need to do is push them back a little.
But cutting the cuticles by an unprepared person is, on the contrary, a certain health risk, since mini-cuts appear on the fingers, which have a huge potential for infection. Also, when you trim your cuticles, they become messy and flake when they grow back, which is not attractive at all. Just use a cuticle remover or softener and push them back in a smooth motion. In order to safely process the cuticle, you will need a cuticle pusher, which can also be an ordinary orange tree stick.
To keep your cuticles healthy, you can also use a moisturizer or cuticle oil. When the cuticles dry out, they can crack and tear, which can be extremely painful. Therefore, pay due attention to their hydration.
4. Ignoring the base layer
The biggest mistake that a lot of girls make during their manicure process is not using a base coat before applying nail polish. However, this is one of the most important steps on the way to well-groomed healthy nails. The base coat helps retain natural oils and moisture in your nails.
5. Improper processing of manicure instruments
Often we do a manicure in a hurry and therefore push the disinfection of tools into the background, arguing that it is impossible to catch any infection from oneself. However, it is not! Untreated tools are an incubator for bacterial growth, which you kindly “walk” during your next home manicure. I advise you to study one of my previous articles and learn how to properly sterilize manicure tools at home.
6. Too much nail polish
Some girls are quite generous in applying layers of nail polish. Like, the thicker the coating, the longer it will last. In reality, everything is exactly the opposite. A little thicker than all the others, maybe only the top layer. Otherwise, you will deprive the nail of contact with air, and only increase the waiting time for the nails to dry.
7. Shaking the bottle of nail polish
Probably many of us have a habit of shaking the bottle of nail polish. However, this is not the right action, because in the process bubbles form in the varnish, which will not allow you to cover your nails well.
8. Use spray to quickly dry nails
Modern life flows at a frantic pace, and gradually instills in us the habit of doing everything quickly. Therefore, we increasingly prefer products that can reduce our waiting time, such as quick-drying nail spray or quick-drying varnishes. However, along with the coating, it can also dry out your nails and make them brittle. Therefore, do not abuse this kind of means, and try to use them only in extreme cases.
No one is immune from mistakes during a manicure, but it is in our hands to do everything possible to avoid them. Be healthy and beautiful! :)
