Magnetic nail polish
One of the ideal options for autumn-winter nail design is cat-eye manicure. And today we will find out how this effect is achieved, because our topic is magnetic nail polish.
What is magnetic nail polish?
Magnetic polish is a coating that gives your nails a textured effect thanks to small metallic particles that can be "activated" by a special magnet.
How does it work?
This is actually a pretty good example of using conventional physics to create a truly innovative nail care product. The nail polish formula contains very small metal particles that are attracted to magnets.
Remember elementary school when we had one magnet with a positive charge and one with a negative charge, and they stuck together? This is exactly how this polish works! Iron particles are quite dense, so they usually sink into the base coat of varnish as it is applied. And when you set the magnet over a still wet coating (to work with a magnet, it is necessary that the varnish layer does not dry up to the end, otherwise nothing will work), the iron particles rise to the surface, and remain there, as the lower varnish layer dries slowly.
The metallic particles contained in the varnish are darker than the base color, and that is why such a visual effect of "texturing" the nail is obtained. Plus, thanks to the properties of a magnet that “rolls” in waves, a bewitching external resemblance to a cat’s eye is created on your nails.
How to apply magnetic polish
Making a cat eye manicure is quite simple. First, apply the magnetic polish on all your nails and let it dry.
After the first coat has dried, working on one nail at a time, apply a small amount of varnish as a second coat. Immediately bring the magnet up and hold it over your nail for 10-15 seconds. This is probably the most difficult part, because you need to hold the magnet as close to the nail as possible, but not touch it.
A little tip: If your hand moves too much while holding the magnet over your nail, the final design may turn out to be sloppy. But don't worry — it's easy to fix. Apply another thin coat of polish over the top. It will "erase" the original magnetic effect and you can start over.
It is quite obvious that these manipulations will need to be done with each nail according to the hotel. It sounds like a lot of work, but it's not - in general, it will take maybe 10 minutes longer than a regular gel polish manicure.
If everything worked out, then you will see a bewitching, wavy, textured coating on the nails. True, you will have to wait a bit before applying the top coat. Applying it too early, when the varnish is not yet completely dry, can spoil the design by smearing the drawing.
By the way, such a varnish does not have to be applied to the entire surface of the nail. When creating manicure designs, even small inclusions of magnetic varnish look very impressive. In addition, this polish is very well combined with other nail accessories, whether it be stickers, rhinestones, or even lace. See for yourself:
Buying cat-eye nail polish is not difficult. Magnetic varnish is sold in almost all professional cosmetics stores, and is also available for ordering on the Internet on many sites.
