After all the bizarre and outrageous nail trends of this year, there is finally an original manicure that is suitable for every day. So, meet this summer's hot design - jelly nails.
Nail art now has no boundaries at all, and we can hardly be surprised by food, hair, or personal hygiene items attached to the nails. :) Despite this, most girls are still conservative in matters of manicure, and choose a classic red or nude manicure. But sometimes we need to be pushed a little out of our comfort zone. I invite you to take a look at jelly nails, the whimsical yet fully wearable nail trend we've all been waiting for.
Where did this trend come from?
There is no wonder that fashion is cyclical. So the decade of the 90s continues to inspire modern fashion trends. Jelly manicure is no exception, the creators of which were inspired by jelly sandals from the 90s that we all wore / know / love. They were translucent, "candy" colors, and some were embellished with sequins.
It is thanks to the similarity in appearance that the new nail trend got its name. So we can say that a jelly manicure is a kind of analogue of jelly shoes for those whose feet have already grown! :)
Some girls are so imbued with nostalgia that they want their nails to look as identical as possible to the sandals from childhood, so they ask to add some sparkles to the jelly manicure. Well, it doesn't look bad at all! :)
Jelly nails gained wide popularity with the light (and manicured :)) hand of the queen of Instagram and trendsetter Kylie Jenner, who shared a picture that showed off three bright summer manicures that belonged to Kylie and her girlfriends.
One of them attracted increased attention, and you guessed it, it was jelly nails. Since then, this manicure design has spread around the world like a virus.
Jelly manicure, definitely, is very similar to "crystal nails", which are also loved by girls on the net. The only difference is that jelly nails look much brighter, and really resemble, if not jelly, then at least a lollipop. :)
How to make jelly nails?
To get a translucent base for a jelly manicure, you can use a fake nail, or sculpt the tip with a clear, hard gel. Then the nail is covered with a bright transparent varnish of the chosen color.
Of course, making jelly nails at home is not very easy, and it is better to seek the help of a professional. For example, to me! :) But if you're feeling brave enough, you can try recreating the jelly manicure yourself with a pre-purchased kit.
You can make all the nails in the same color scheme, or choose different colors for each nail - the manicure will look very impressive in any case!
Most Instagram pics tagged with #jellynails show handles with fairly long nails, but I assure you that this design can be done on shorter nails if that style isn't for you.
There is no limit in the form of nails. Jelly manicure looks equally original with both square and oval nails, and even with sharp stilettos. :)
You can also complement the design with sparkles, stones, or nail stickers - it all depends on your imagination.
Honestly, I am delighted with jelly nails, because it is original, bright, and unusual! Do not be afraid to experiment, because summer is made for bright colors!
