How to extend the life of a pedicure
Summer is the time for vacations, light clothing, and open shoes. Your feet need to look amazing, so a fresh pedicure is a must. And how to extend the life of a pedicure - you will learn in my today's article. :)
Whether you prefer a gel polish pedicure or a fan of a more traditional finish, you always want to keep the effect of the procedure for as long as possible. Especially if you're doing a holiday pedicure. Therefore, today I have prepared for you some tips that will help extend the life of your pedicure and allow you to enjoy a well-deserved rest, with confidence in the beauty of your feet.
1. Bring your own polish
If you prefer a pedicure with regular polish, then it makes sense to bring your own bottle with you before meeting with the master. Because you never know how long the polish has been in your salon. And the older the formula, the greater the likelihood that the varnish will begin to chip off. In addition, now you will have the same shade at hand and you can easily correct any pedicure errors if they appear, which is especially true if you are on vacation.
The same goes for gel polish. If you are flying away on vacation for a long time and are worried about how the pedicure would survive your active pastime safe and sound, you can purchase the same varnish with which your fingers are already painted, and in case of force majeure, ask a local master to correct you one nail. On the one hand, it seems that this is not a very profitable investment, but buying one bottle of gel polish may well be more profitable than doing a new pedicure abroad.
2. Top coat
If you have painted your nails yourself, then every couple of days, apply an additional layer of fixer to restore shine and protect the coating from chipping. Be sure to run the brush along the edges of the nail to "seal" them.
3. Watch your shoes
In particular, immediately after the pedicure, avoid closed-toed shoes so that the polish has enough time to dry and harden.
4. Protect your feet
If you are not a fan of wearing slippers or socks while staying at home, it's time to change that. A soft pair of socks, or house slippers, is the perfect barrier to protect your pedicure from the impact of walking. We all know the situation when a piece of furniture suddenly appears out of nowhere and strikes the little finger? :) Exactly! In addition, wearing socks will help to keep the feeling of freshness and softness of the heels after a pedicure longer.
5. Don't bury your feet in the sand
And although it seems that this is generally an essential attribute of a seaside holiday, if you value your beautiful pedicure, you should refrain from this activity. :) Well, everything is simple here - the constant impact of foreign elements on the nails can lead to the formation of coating chips, accelerate the fading of color and, consequently, shorten the life of the pedicure.
6. Scrub
A pedicure is not only covering the nails, but also taking care of the skin of the feet. Several times a week, use a pumice stone or a foot file, and gently scrub your feet. This will keep your heels soft and prevent them from becoming too rough or calloused.
7. Moisturize
Apply a couple drops of cuticle oil to your toes every day to keep your nails and the skin around them moisturized. This will prevent dry cuticles and burrs that can negatively affect the look of your pedicure.
8. Avoid Fragrances
Despite the fact that in the previous paragraph I focused on the importance of moisturizing (after all, not even the most beautiful varnish will distract from flaky, cracked heels), but when choosing a foot cream, stay away from heavily scented products, as synthetic fragrances can affect the coating and cause cracking. Instead, look for unscented or fragrance-free moisturizers.
For the same reason, you should be careful when using sunscreen. Some of them contain ingredients that can adversely affect the durability of nail polish. UV protection is very important, so do not give up on sunscreen. However, try not to put sunscreen on your toenails.
I hope my information was useful to you, and a beautiful pedicure will delight you throughout your vacation. Be healthy and beautiful! :)
