Electrolysis: electric hair removal
Despite the fact that wax depilation is present in the list of procedures of the Pilochka service, in our blog we are happy to introduce you to other methods of hair removal. And our topic today is electrolysis.
Achieving absolute smoothness of the body is a kind of unicorn of the beauty world: magnificent, mythical and seemingly unattainable. However, with the advent of electrolysis, the dream has become a reality, because this option of hair removal promises to permanently remove all unwanted hair on the body. And while it's not a new development, electrolysis is still not as widely known as, say, laser hair removal. Therefore, today I propose to take a closer look at this method of hair removal and find out if this procedure has any pitfalls.
Who is suitable for electrolysis?
If the thought of needles and electric current doesn't scare you, then electrolysis is for you. :) Any person who has hair they want to get rid of, and who can bear the discomfort of the procedure and the costs, is a reasonable candidate for electrolysis. And, unlike laser hair removal, electrolysis is suitable even for people with blond or gray hair.
Pain factor
If you immediately remembered the word “discomfort”, which I mentioned in the previous paragraph, then I hasten to reassure you, everything is not so scary. :) I would be lying if I said that the electrolysis treatment can be compared to a relaxing massage, but it is also not unbearable - in many cases it is like a slight tickle. If you have a low pain threshold and are worried about it, you can use a local anesthetic, such as lidocaine cream to help make the procedure more comfortable.
As for the effect immediately after the procedure, doctors warn that there may be slight redness and burning. You can also use a topical antibiotic to help prevent any infections or pimples, but this should be discussed with your electrologist first.
On what parts of the body can electrolysis be done?
Statistics say that the most popular location for electrolysis is, oddly enough, the eyebrows, followed by hair on other parts of the face (upper lip, hairline, chin, and sideburns). Fortunately, the magical powers of electrolysis are not limited to just removing the "fluff"; the procedure can be performed on almost any area that is covered with unwanted hair, including the bikini area, armpits, legs and abdomen.
If you decide to remove facial hair by electrolysis, then stop using any products containing retinol or tretinoin at least a week before the procedure. Other things you can do to prepare yourself include gently exfoliating and moisturizing your skin, and removing make-up from your face before your procedure.
How many electrolysis treatments does it take to completely get rid of hair?
As a rule, in order for the hair to completely collapse, it will take far from one procedure, and sometimes even 15-20. So consider these costs in advance, both time and money. The electrolysis session itself can last from 15 minutes to an hour, and the cost depends on many factors, such as the size of the treated area, and even the city where you live (in large cities, the price of electrolysis is usually higher).
But don't skimp on the costs: this is a professional procedure and therefore should be performed by a professional. Do not be shy and ask the master to tell you in detail how the procedure goes and present certificates. No need to settle for the first master you come across - get to know several clinics or salons before trusting the person who will shock you. :)
Does electrolysis really remove hair permanently?
This is perhaps the best part - the results are permanent. After the destruction of the hair follicle, it does not grow back.
I hope that after reading my article, you have received answers to your questions regarding electrolysis. And if for some reason you still do not decide on this procedure, then wax depilation is waiting for you! And the Pilochka service specialists will be happy to help you become the owner of smooth skin without all these electrical impulses. :) Be healthy and beautiful!
