Castor oil for eyelashes
Many girls notice that with regular use, castor oil helps them grow thick, long eyelashes and eyebrows. But does it really work? Today I will tell you about it!
What is castor oil?
Castor oil, or as it is popularly called, "castor oil" is a vegetable oil that is extracted from the beans of the castor tree. It is generally accepted that the fatty acids that make up castor oil have a beneficial effect on the skin.
What are the health benefits of castor oil?
Ironically, castor oil has gained a lot of popularity not as an eyelash serum, but as a well- acting oral laxative. But the oil is used by people around the world for other purposes as well, such as treating acne and inflammation, smoothing wrinkles, and combating age spots.
It is also a fairly common ingredient found in many beauty products because castor oil has excellent moisturizing properties without clogging pores.
Castor for eyelashes
Before buying castor oil, you should carefully examine the composition, and choose a product without impurities. Castor oil mixed with other oils or ingredients may cause irritation or may not give the desired result.
Before you decide to apply castor oil to your eyelashes or eyebrows, apply a small amount of oil to some other part of your body, such as your arm, about a day before. If the skin does not react with irritation, then the oil will be safe for use on eyelashes.
It is advisable to apply the oil a couple of hours before bedtime. While it can be used during the day, it's best to use it at night as you have more time to saturate your lashes.
To treat eyelashes with castor oil:
- Wash your face with water and remove all make-up, especially from the eyes.
- I recommend cold pressed castor oil because it tends to be pure and natural.
- Take a pre-washed old mascara brush or Q-tip and slowly dip it into the castor oil.
- Now carefully apply the product. Care must be taken not to get the oil in the eyes. And if this happens, you must rinse them thoroughly, as this can cause blurred vision or irritation of the mucous membrane.
Does castor oil really affect the growth of eyelashes and eyebrows?
And this is where the fun begins! :) Many of us are used to thinking that thanks to castor oil, eyelashes and eyebrows will start to grow kaaaaak, that then at least cut off the extra length with scissors! :) But in fact, according to researchers, her merits are too exaggerated.
But while castor oil may not promote eyelash growth, most doctors agree that castor oil has a number of hydrating and conditioning benefits, and in turn, will help prevent premature eyelash damage. Eyelashes are known to be delicate hairs, and by nourishing and protecting them from breakage (for example, from heavy use of curling irons), we will help them look fuller, longer and thicker.
But if castor oil doesn't work, why do so many people say otherwise?
Unfortunately, it's just a matter of perception. Castor oil is very viscous, so it can visually improve the appearance of existing eyelashes. Castor oil will make your lashes look glossier, so they will appear thicker and thicker. This is what gives the visualization of improved growth or healthier eyelashes.
Whether to use castor oil for eyelashes and eyebrows or not is up to you. But even despite the facts that refute the magical properties of castor oil for eyelash growth, one should not forget about its usefulness for moisturizing and protecting against brittleness. Be healthy and beautiful! :)
